VIDEO: Bernie Worrell Orchestra 5/12/14 Louisville, Kentucky @ Zanzabar

Bernie Worrell - Zanzabar

Bernie Worrell brought his Orchestra through Kentucky recently and basically burned the house down. He added several songs to his normal setlist, including opening the set with Talking Heads‘ Burning Down The House and encoring with a jammed out impromptu version of Bob Marley‘s Stir It Up, before closing with The Beatles‘ Come Together. He was also joined by P-Funk Allstars alumni Rico Lewis on second drum kit for most of the evening. You could tell that Bernie was particularly inspired this night, which isn’t necessarily always the case.

The real highlight, though, is video 3 of 5 below, where Bernie started teasing That’s All by Genesis. But he didn’t stop with a tease, and the whole band joined him for a 10 minute jam. Check it out at the 7 minute mark, Bernie gets possessed! (Apologies that part 3 is lower quality, shot with my iPhone because it was faster to get going than the full video camera rig which was turned off and had the lens cap on. Little did I know that the tease would turn into a full on jam.)

Bootsy Collins has assembled a monster band of P-Funk alumni (calling them the Funk Unity Band) for his 2011 Funk Unity Tour in support of his new album, Tha Funk Capitol Of The World. And if that sentence didn’t have enough Funk for ya, I’m about to hit you off with even more!

You can start by pressing play on the above audio track. Then move on to the full course, this 2 hour pro-shot video of the full show from July 9, 2011 in Vienne, France:

When you’re done with that i’ve got some downloads for you. I’ve ripped the above video and you can download the 800mb flash video file via: MEGAUPLOAD or TORRENT.

I’ve also got audio of the next night’s show at North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands from July 10, 2011. It’s a 103 minute untracked audio file and you can download it in either MP3 or FLAC. I recorded it from the NSJF webstream, so it is soundboard quality, although it was only streaming at 192kbps.
