Late Sunday night after the festivities had ended I was sitting on the porch of the Fiyawerx Winter Wonderland Cabin sipping whiskey and listening to live D’Angelo bootlegs with Bee Getz, Khris Royal & Ian Neville when festival organizer Paul Levine sent a few shuttles over and whisked the party away to his cabin deep in the woods of the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.
Peep the scene: Upon arrival Ryan Zoidis is spinning a set of dub sides and there is beer and liquor flowing and a buffet of wonderful foods laid out as an appreciation party for the hard working staff of the festival. As more people arrived, Zwad’s dub set slowly morphed into a Toubab Krewe led percussion jam. The jam continued for about 2 hours mostly led by Zach Deputy with appearances by Eddie Roberts on guitar, Eric Krasno on bass, and other staff members. The meat and potatoes was Jesus from Lettuce on bass and Simon Allen from The New Mastersounds on drums while Zach Deputy led a dubbed out jam on Peter Tosh’s Legalize It. Deep in the Florida woods the weather was warm and the people were happy.
