Thanks for this. I was lucky enough to see him live last year in Germany. I am deeply moved by his music. So thank you again for sharing!

I don’t think I’ll be getting over Gil leaving for a very long time. I raised my son on his style he cried also when we heard of the news. My son hollered that Gil Scott-Heron was dead and I jumped up and ran to my computer to find out for sure. It was true and all I could do was put my head on my desk and cry. I have had Gil on cassettes, LP’s, CD’s and mp3’s he was always with me. Got a mp3player and would go to sleep listening to him. The new of course had to put their foot in it and say “he was using drugs” and I said I don’t care what he was doing all I cared about was that he was gone. Didn’t hear anything about him on CNN we thought that was where you got the up to date new. Wrong!!!
